What apps/work are you doing that require a high core count? Any video editing, rendering?

If none, then you'd save a bit and get a bit more performance in games by going to the 7800x3D.

Also the RTX4090 is overkill for that 1440p monitor...a RTX4080 Super would be overkill, but at least better value.

Personally I'd go for one of the Corsair Capellix coolers (better quality pumps/fans), remove the thermal paste as the Corsair AIO comes with its own, and up the PSU to the 1200W version as this is the new ATX3 version with better components and protections for transient power spikes from the current range of powerful GPUs.

Assuming those changes are appropriate to your requirements, you'd save around £450...to either save, or put towards a pair of similar size/resolution monitors (even if one is a high-refresh gaming version and the other a 60hz productivity one).

Hi Tony,

It's going to used for gaming primarily, so you recommend changing the ryzen 9 7950x to the ryzen 7 7800x3d? Also I do want to keep the 4090.

Also I have replaced the cooler to the callipex and removed the thermal paste. And updated the psu to the 1200w.

You haven't answered the questions raised, what make and model monitor are you using?
Ummm.... aren't they in the first post right at the bottom?

I will post them again here.

Hello everyone,

As a complete novice when it comes to anything pc related, I was wondering if I have 2 m.2 drives which drive will the trial version of Windows be activated on? Is this something I can ask to be done on the smaller drive when I place my order or is it "dumb luck"?

We love you Ukraine
And also will those monitors come with a DP cable for the big one and a HDMI for the small one?
You've ordered without windows, so test windows will be installed on the primary drive (500gb) but you can't use that, you have to clean install your own copy.

But you've got your drives the wrong way round, you want the OS on the fastest drive, you've got the small OS drive as a slow Gen 3 drive which defeats the object.

All monitors for PC's use DP, HDMI is for TV's or consoles, not used on PC's.

To the op, can you please stick to the one thread when everything is concerning the same build. It prevents repetition and anything being missed. Merged your latest onto your previous.

Really? I was told that windows on the smaller drive would be fine as speed would be irrelevant for that drive? Then I was going to keep the bigger one for the games exclusively?

Not sure who told you that but that’s the wrong way around

you want the OS on a small fastest drive and games don’t benefit so much from speeds

Why are you sticking with the 4090? If your monitor is 1440p it’s not going to be any benefit, it’s not the case that just upping power improves performance, the monitor is a bottleneck and the gpu won’t be able to perform as its capable of, it’s just wasting money.

Theyre also extreme budget monitors anyway which are a poor investment for this level of build and budget.

what reason are you getting 2 inferior monitors? What’s the 1080p one for?

there’s loads that can be optimised far better here

I'm going to be playing triple aaa games and it's a 1440p monitor. I think the 4090 is fine personally. And if I ever want to upgrade monitors in the future the option is there.
